The Last Biblical Shaker Post
The Bible

Biblical Shakers, this is my last posting for my blog.  Last week I finished with the last devotional post for every chapter in the Bible, and this week I want to concentrate on the importance of reading the Bible and actually “Being in the Word’.

First of all, there are some facts that I want to share with you.
The Bible is a collection of 66 books in most Protestant Bibles (39 in the Old Testament and 27 in the New Testament).  It was written over a period of approximately 1,500 years with more than 40 different authors contributing, including kings, prophets, disciples, shepherds, fishermen, and a physician.  The Bible was originally written primarily in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek and now is the most widely distributed and translated book in history.

The longest book in the Bible is Psalms counting 150 chapters.  The Old Testament contains 929 chapters, and the New Testament contains 260 chapters which means Biblical Shakers has over 1,189 devotions on the blog spot. There are amazing stories contained in the Bible with great Biblical Heroes.  They were men and women of God chosen by Him.  Prophecies can be read, many of which Christians believe were fulfilled in the life of Jesus Christ, and many Biblical scholars can connect the Old and New Testament writings in ways to see this.

Archaeological discoveries have confirmed the existence of many people, places, and events mentioned in Scripture.  The discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls in 1947 provided manuscripts of Old Testament books that were over 1,000 years older than previously known copies.  I do not need to present facts that prove the Bible exists for that has already been done.  All scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, and for training in righteousness.  II Timothy 3:16

The remarkable theme of the Bible is that, despite being written by many authors over many centuries, it tells one unified story of God’s relationship with humanity and His plan of redemption through Jesus Christ.  You grow closer to God the more that you are in the Word.  God is the Word!!  The Bible is how we can relate with Him.

I would like to read a quote from David Paul Tripp’s book, New Morning Mercies, about what he says about the Lord’s book.  “The Bible was written to pull back the curtains and reveal to us the One who sits at the center of all things.  The Bible doesn’t just reveal His position, His power, and His plan.  The Bible reveals to us His character as well.  The Bible tells us that God is the Creator, Controller, and King over all things.  It tells us that God is boundless in authority, wisdom, and power.  However, the Bible also tells us that this high and mighty One is slow to anger and plenteous in love: that He is merciful, tender, kind and forgiving.  It tells us that He is the long-suffering, Giver of amazing grace.  The Bible does call you to do what you cannot do, but it doesn’t leave you there.  It introduces you to the One who gives you absolutely everything that you need, the saving Grace of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  This is what the Bible is about. “

Use the Biblical Shaker Blog in your Bible studies, after listening to a sermon about a certain chapter, as a daily devotional study, use the prayers in the devotions as a daily prayer and share it with others.  And, last week’s posting has the steps for the Christian Calling.  With your phone this blog is with you at all times.  Use it, share it, and speak it to encourage others to read the Word. --- For Biblical Shakers makes reading the Bible more enjoyable for you, and I pray the Lord will put a hunger on your heart.
