Psalm 82
Verses 3-4
Delores Little
Verses 3-4: Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed. Rescue the weak and needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.
THOUGHT
This passage reminds me of what Jesus said in Matt. 25:31-40. When Christ drew us to Him, and we accepted Him, we have these calls on our life to do what His Word tells us to do. Last Tuesday one of the men from our church who helps at Open Doors told us that for the Thanksgiving meal alone they need over 1,000 or more turkey’s to feed the people who come there for meals. The count of needed meals is in the thousands.
We are to reach out to the weak and fatherless, poor and oppressed, weak and needy. Truly it is more blessed to give than to receive.
PRAYER
Father, there are so many needy families and people in our world. We ask You by the Holy Spirit to help us be those helpers in Your field. May our hearts be open to care for those in need. AMEN
Tuesday, Psalm Chapter 83
Psalm 83
Verse 18
Delores Little
THOUGHT
Wow, this Psalm is God’s people crying out to God to help them. These nations want to destroy Israel, and it has been the same since. You still see it today. IF EVER THE USA TAKES THEIR HANDS OFF ISRAEL, GOD HAVE MERCY ON THIS NATION.
Like God told Abram in Genesis 12:2-3, “I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all people on earth will be blessed through you.”
We need to be praying for their salvation and for peace for them. I love the way this chapter ends.
Verse 18: Let them know that You, whose name is the Lord, that You alone are Most High over all the earth.
That is the way it should always be for us, that we always know who is over us and in us and guides us daily through whatever we go through. He is faithful.
PRAYER
Father, help us remember that You are Lord of Lords and King of Kings. You are the Magnificent Creator. You are the ONE and ONLY GOD, and we are so thankful to know You and be able to go to You through Your Son, Jesus. Thank You for loving us just as we are. AMEN
Wednesday, Psalm Chapter 84
Psalm 84
Verses 1-2
Jeanie Boldt`
Verses 1-2: How lovely is Your dwelling place, O Lord Almighty! My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.
THOUGHT
There have been people in each of our lives who have become tired from their sufferings. The pain has become too much, the decrease of physical abilities limits their activities, they feel like a burden to their families, and they are no longer able to see or hear or care for themselves.
My mother, Dorothy, who suffered from dementia and very limited activity had run her race when she no longer knew what was going on and was fearful of everyday life. She was ready to be with her Lord and Savior. What a celebration when she was able to breathe her last breath.
It is at this time that the above verses can be such a strength to them and to those who grieve. They who believe have a beautiful dwelling place with the Lord.
PRAYER
Father, thank You for the place that You have prepared for those who believe in You. Be with those who are suffering at this time. Give them the faith and peace that they need. AMEN
Thursday, Psalm Chapter 85
Psalm 85
Verses 1-3
Delores Little
THOUGHT
This is a beautiful Psalm. It shows us confessing our sins and looking to God for our salvation, love, faithfulness, righteousness and peace.
Verse 1-3: You showed favor to Your land, O Lord, You restored the fortunes of Jacob. You forgave the iniquity of Your people and covered all their sins. You set aside all Your wrath and turned from Your fierce anger.
As I read this I think of God’s Word in Hebrews 8:10-12. As it says in Verse 12, “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.” This is going to happen in the end times as God has not forsaken His chosen people. God has an unfailing love for them and us. Praise the Lord for that.
1. Salvation: 2 Corinthians 6:2c: I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.
2. Love: I Corinthians 13:13: And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love, but the greatest of these is love.
3. Faithfulness & peace: Galatians 5:22: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness.”
These are some of the things I think this chapter tells us. God is so faithful.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, use us daily for Your Glory in things we do and say. Heal all who need healing, rejoice with them who are rejoicing and sing with those who are singing. Father, I thank You for the blessing of this wonderful group. What a light they are for You. In Jesus Name we pray. AMEN
Friday, Psalm Chapter 86
Psalm 86
Verses 11-13
Delores Little
Verses 11-13: Teach me your way, O Lord, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear Your name. I will praise You, O Lord my God, with my whole heart; I will glorify your name forever. For great is your love toward me; you have delivered me from the depths of the grave.
THOUGHT
As I read this whole Psalm, it sounded like me when I’m crying out to God. When Willie, my husband, and I had some tough times making it financially, I would cry out to God to provide, and HE ALWAYS DID.
There was a time in my married life when I was a mom of three children. I was driving on Good Friday to Omaha from Murray, NE, to see my friend. A car load of teenagers ran a stop sign, and I was so close to their car. I knew they were going to hit us. I just cried out, “Help God”, and HE STOPPED OUR CAR. The other car went in front of us.
I truly want God to teach me every day, and He does. I want to walk in His truths. I love to praise Him. His love is so great to us every day of our lives. It is beyond my understanding, but because of faith, I know and accept it with joy.
The end of Verse 17 says, “for You, O Lord, have helped me and comforted me.” He has been doing this ever since Willie died. What an awesome God we serve.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, we ask You to forgive all our sins. We thank You for always being there for us when we cry out to You. Help us always to rely on You when in need. Keep us focused through prayer and The Word. Thank You for hearts that truly care and love You, Lord. AMEN
