Click on Title for Video Intro Monday, Psalm Chapter 140 Psalm 140 Verse 8 Jeanie Boldt Verse 8:  Do not grant the wicked their desires, O Lord; do not let their plans succeed, or they will become proud. THOUGHT This chapter speaks about protection against those who slander or threaten you. I guess I couldn’t help but think about the election going on right now. Isn’t it too bad that 75% of a person’s campaign is not about building one up but about tearing the opponent down? I pray that the Lord will put the most righteous man in the top position because he is doing the right things!! Satan fights anyone who is doing the will of God, and David was no exception. We must pray for Christian leaders especially, for they are prime targets for the evil one. The enemy has two favorite weapons; poisonous tongues and hidden traps. He slanders God’s leaders (sometimes using the lips of professed Christians), and he sets traps for them hoping to trip them up. David depended on prayer, God’s...

Click on Title for Video Intro Monday, Psalm Chapter 135 Psalm 135 Verses 15-18 Kristin Strayer Verses 15-18:  The idols of the nations are silver and gold, made by the hands of men. They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but they cannot see; they have ears, but they cannot hear, nor is there breath in their mouths. Those who make them will be like them, and so will all who trust in them.  THOUGHT We all probably have had times when we have not felt very close to God or been able to figure out what God’s will is. I think these verses give us one thing that can cause us to feel disconnected from God, and that is having idols in our lives. In my opinion, some of the idols of today include success, power, pleasing others, comfort, appearing perfect, living to have fun, etc.  As the above verses say, idols will keep us from speaking, seeing, and hearing, and they will suffocate us. All these things are necessary to communicate with God and to know where he is at wor...

Click on Title for Video Intro Monday, Psalm Chapter 130 Psalm 130 Verse 5 Jane Jones Verse 5:  “I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in His word I put my hope.” THOUGHT I will probably share stories about my Jamaica journey this week. Ms Therm found her strength in waiting upon the Lord. She shared with me that she frequently walks in the valleys of life.  There are few mountain top experiences in her walk.  However, she totally believes and knows in her heart that her hope is found in the Lord.  So she puts hope in her church and in the Word.  And then she waits...and waits...and waits.  She said she waited 25 years for me for I am her answered prayer. She cried out to Jesus and felt His healing touch. I was very humbled knowing that in her eyes, I was her answered prayer.  And maybe I am...? PRAYER Lord, please help us to remember that You are the source of our hope--not a man, or a better job, or a pan of brownies. Those are all good thin...

Click on Title for Video Intro Monday, Psalm Chapter 125 Psalm 125 Verse 1 Jeanie Boldt Verse 1:  Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever. THOUGHT I believe this verse speaks of our Christian Sister in Jamaica’s faith. She believes her God is her protector and provider. There are many days when God is all she has. She knows that He is always there and cannot be shaken or taken from her. God is the constant in her world of survival. Learning to trust in Him is how we learn to depend on Him as our best friend. There have been moments in my life when I have had to humanely go to Him. I have cried out on a walk. I have driven to a church parking lot and sat in the car and prayed and read the scripture verse on their sign over and over again. I have cried out to Him in my car, at a park and sitting in church.  I always knew He heard me, and no matter where I was, and what my needs were, HE WAS THE CONSTANT in my life. He wi...

Click on title for Video Intro Monday, Psalm Chapter 120 Psalm 120 Delores Little THOUGHT A song of ascents. Verse 1:  I call on the LORD in my distress, and he answers me. I cannot tell you how many times I have called upon the Lord in my distress. When I got seizures at age 20, I cried out to Him, and He was with me. When my children were ill, I called out to Him on their behalf and mine.  When my children were leaving home going out on their own, I called out to Him.  When my husband died, I called out to Him.  I can say He was with me in it all. Verse 2:  Save me, O LORD, from lying lips and from deceitful tongues. I have lied in my life, and I am not proud to say that.  Thank God for forgiving me.   Verse 3:  What will he do to you, and what more besides, O deceitful tongue? Yes, I have been guilty of a deceitful tongue.  God again has had to show me the things I have done wrong by His Holy Spirit and His Word. Verse 7: ...
