Monday, Psalm Chapter 120
Psalm 120
Delores Little

THOUGHT
A song of ascents.

Verse 1:  I call on the LORD in my distress, and he answers me.
I cannot tell you how many times I have called upon the Lord in my distress. When I got seizures at age 20, I cried out to Him, and He was with me. When my children were ill, I called out to Him on their behalf and mine.  When my children were leaving home going out on their own, I called out to Him.  When my husband died, I called out to Him.  I can say He was with me in it all.

Verse 2:  Save me, O LORD, from lying lips and from deceitful tongues.
I have lied in my life, and I am not proud to say that.  Thank God for forgiving me.

Verse 3:  What will he do to you, and what more besides, O deceitful tongue?
Yes, I have been guilty of a deceitful tongue.  God again has had to show me the things I have done wrong by His Holy Spirit and His Word.

Verse 7:  I am a man of peace; but when I speak, they are for war.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, forgive us if we are still guilty of the above, and we thank You for it.  Help us be people of peace and love to others and among family, friends and co-workers.  In Jesus Name we pray. AMEN

Tuesday, Psalm Chapter 121
Psalm 121
Delores Little

THOUGHT
A Song of Ascents.

1. I lift up my eyes to the hills.  Where does my help come from?
2. My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.

I love these verses.  How many times they have comforted me in the walks that God has taken with me. I’m sure it is true for us all.

3. He will not let your foot slip.  He who watches over you will not slumber;
4. indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.

God never sleeps, He is always there for us whether we know or feel it. I really think God delights in taking care of us “IF” only we would let Him do so every day as we work, study, play, cook or do whatever.

5. The LORD watches over you. The LORD is your shade at your right hand;
6. the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.

He watches over us day and night. He is always there.  I Praise Him for that, even though I fall short of it daily.  “Self” gets in my way much too often. I do not know how people think they can do it without God. He is everything.

7. The LORD will keep you from all harm.  He will watch over your life;
8. the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.

We are to just put ourselves into His hands daily and nightly, and He will take care of us even unto death.

PRAYER
Father, how I praise and thank You for always being with us all. We do so need You daily and every second of our lives. You are the great AMEN. Open our eyes to see the greatness of Your Love for us through Christ Jesus and the Holy Spirit as He teaches us all about You through Your Holy Word.  Thank You for the freedom to share You openly with others.  Let us be the light and salt to others. In Jesus Name we pray. AMEN

Wednesday, Psalm Chapter 122
Psalm 122
Delores Little

THOUGHT
1.  I rejoiced with those who said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord.”
This is how it should be, but with having 4 kids, it wasn’t always that way.  I tell you the devil does not want us going to the house of God and rejoicing in Him.  Either the kids would fight in the car or my husband & I would get into it over not being on time or whatever.  It was not a fun trip to church many times.  When we got there, things went pretty well.

2.  Our feet are standing in your gates, O Jerusalem.
3.  Jerusalem is built like a city that is closely compacted together.
4.  That is where the tribes go up, the tribes of the Lord, to praise the name of the Lord according to the statute given to Israel.
This is how we all need to be going into church.  Having joy in our heart and the peace of Christ on us.  I’m very blessed to belong to a good Bible teaching church, and it is very loving to me. Jerusalem was a city compacted together and isn’t that how we should be in church.  We are a city of believers learning how to reach the lost. Let us do it.

5.  There the thrones for judgment stand, the thrones of the house of David.
6.  Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May those who love you be secure."  Do we pray for the peace of Jerusalem every day?  We need to as God’s Word says so.

7.  "May there be peace within your walls and security within your citadels."
8.  For the sake of my brothers and friends, I will say, “Peace be within you.”
9.  for the sake of the house of the LORD our God, I will seek your prosperity.
God wants peace within our walls.  Peace with our brothers and friends and others as well.  Let us seek all that God has to offer for us in the spirit of His Word, and then we truly will have prosperity.  Praise the Lord.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You for another new day.  Bless everyone with Your peace and thank You for all You have for us through Your beloved Word.  “This is the day the Lord has made, and we will rejoice and be glad in it.”  In Jesus Name we pray.  AMEN

Thursday, Psalm Chapter 123
Psalm 123
Delores Little

THOUGHT
1.  I lift up my eyes to you, to you whose throne is in heaven.
Let us lift up our eyes to God above.  When I send cards out for our church, many times I put in Hebrews 12:2, “Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”  This verse goes with the above one.

2.  As the eyes of slaves look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maid look to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the Lord our God, till he shows us his mercy.
Growing up we look to our parents for how to do things.  Some use God’s Word to teach us and others just the things of the world, but we still look to them.  Now we are to look to God above for our answers and many times have to wait upon Him to show us what He wants of us and when to do it.  Like Psalm 27:14 days, “Wait for the lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”

3.  Have mercy on us, O Lord, have mercy on us, for we have endured much contempt.
In the KJV it says mercy, but the NIV says compassion.  Lamentations 3:22-23 says, “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail.  They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.”  How thankful we are for this daily.

4.  We have endured much ridicule from the proud, much contempt from the arrogant.
Have you been put down for your faith in Christ Jesus by different people?  I sure have.  Many had proclaimed to be Christians.  What I have learned is they didn’t want to be in God’s Word to learn what He has for us and how to live for Him down here.  What they got at church was enough for the whole week.  Not me – I need God’s Word to feed me His Spiritual Food every day.  I am empty without it.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, forgive us when we fall short of Your Glory.  Lift us up to keep our eyes and hearts on You always.  Thank You for Your living Word which feeds us daily.  Thank You for showing us when we mess up and by Your gentle hands bring us back to You.  Bless this day for us all. In Jesus Name we pray.  AMEN

Friday, Psalm Chapter 124
Psalm 124
Delores Little

THOUGHT
A Song of Ascents of David

1.  If the LORD had not been on our side – let Israel say,
2.  If the LORD had not been on our side – when men attacked us,
3.  When their anger flared against us, they would have swallowed us alive;
4.  The flood would have engulfed us, the torrent would have swept over us,
5.  The raging waters would have swept us away.

As we read these first 5 verses we realize just how much we need our Lord.  Was David running from Saul as he wrote this Psalm?  He really kept his eyes on God through the many years of his running.  He was attacked.  He fought. We have to have things in our life that we fight even on a daily basis.  We know only God can deliver us.  The devil is the one that comes against us one way or another.  We need God’s armor every day.

6.  Praise be to the Lord, who has not let us be torn by their teeth.
7.  We have escaped like a bird out of the fowler’s snare; the snare has been broken, and we have escaped.
8.  Our help is in the name of the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.

These verses can comfort us when we go through hard times. How many times do we thank God for the good things in our life but forget to do it during the hard times? I really learned this lesson when Willie was so ill.  I was praying one morning while he was at work.  The Lord asked me if I could put Willie into His hands and Praise Him. I said yes I could. He said he never belonged to you in the first place, only loaned to me as I was to him.  We were God’s.  Yes, I still praise and thank Him.  Like verse 8 says, “Our help is in the name of the Lord”.

PRAYER
Father, thank You for always being there for us when we go through hard times.  We are grateful to have a Protector as You.  Help us to remember to praise You in all things.  Bring us JOY in the good times and the bad.  In the Name of Jesus.  AMEN
