Mindy & Bart Strayer

Mindy and Bart Strayer live in Seattle, Washington, where Bart works as a Certified Financial Analyst and Mindy is employed as a Registered Nurse.   They were married in 2001 and are busy with their careers, raising 3 children and remodeling their home while writing the Salt Shaker Devotions.  (Bart is the son of Jane Jones)



Kristen & Matt Strayer

Kristen and Matt Strayer married in 2005 and live on an acreage outside Cedar Falls, Iowa.  Matt is employed as a Clinical Pharmacist while Kristen has been a Stay-at-Home Mom for their 4 children.  They have become Colson Followers (2024) and have written personal mission statements for their lives.    Devotions were written in between driving children to events, Matt’s passion for hunting, and visiting family.    (Matt is the son of Jane Jones)

Heather Proehl is a CPA with a career in International Business.  She has lived from New York to California for her job along with 2 years in Singapore, with her permanent address being Maple Grove, MN.  Traveling experiences along with Goal Setting is what she shares about in her devotions. Heather is a CPA with her MBA along side her husband who works as an IT Project Manager with his MBA. They had a Podcast while in Singapore called Marriage and Money that shares some excellent ways to better a marriage in the area of finance.    (Heather is daughter of Jeanie)

Tanya Ruden is a successful CPA specializing in the area of insurance.  While loving the world of Professional Women, her favorite responsibility is being a wife and mother of 3 children.  Her husband, owns 3 Orange Leaf Yogurt stores in the vicinity of Des Moines, Iowa, where they call home.   Tanya’s devotions include many examples of real life situations while raising her family.  This family always has sporting, music, school or church events going on.    (Tanya is the daughter of Jeanie)

Jane Jones is retired after working years in the field of accounting, payroll and insurance.  She loves family and has devoted her life to it by caring for our parents and loving her family which includes 12 grandchildren.   Hudson, IA, is where she resides with her husband in the summer and Naples, FL in the winter.    Jane’s thoughts and devotions include many family memories.  

Jeanie Boldt is the Matriarch of the Salt Shakers.  Dermatology Nursing was her career for 35 years, now happily retired.  Omaha, NE, is her home where she resides with her husband.  Jeanie shares some life struggles which include finding herself after divorce and learning to love again.   Her 3 grandchildren keep her grounded in Jesus as they share their love of Christ with her.    



Delores Little

Delores Little is the only author who is not in the Salt Shaker family.   A very special relationship evolved when Jeanie was Delores’s Stephen Minister after her husband passed away.  The relationship developed into becoming prayer warriors for each other’s family.  Delores was such an encourager about being in ‘The Word of God’.  She has read the Bible over 100 times before passing away in 2020.  Her knowledge was welcomed when she joined our family group.

Week Three, II Thessalonians  Monday, Introduction II Thessalonians Intro Jeanie Boldt THOUGHT This letter was written by Paul about 2 months after he had sent the first letter to Thessalonica. Many in the church were confused about the timing of Christ’s return. Many thought that He could come at any moment so they stopped working for the Lord and just waited. Adding fuel to the fire was the continued persecution of the church. Many felt that indeed this must be the “Day of the Lord”. Responding quickly, Paul sent a second letter to this young church. In it he gave further instruction concerning the second coming and the day of the Lord. The letter begins with Paul’s trademark greeting. He mentions their perseverance in spite of their persecution and trials and uses this situation to broach the subject of Christ’s return.   Click on Title for Video Intro Monday, II Kings Chapter 5 II Kings 5 Verse 13 Jane Jones Verse 13:  But his servants caught up with him and said, “Father, if the prophet had asked you to do something hard and heroic, wouldn’t you have done it? So why not this simple ‘wash and be clean’?” THOUGHT Why do we think that everything great that comes from God is huge, impressive, hard and heroic? Obedience to God begins with humility. These first five chapters have been such great lessons on humility. We must believe that His way is better than our own. We may not always understand His ways of working, but by humbly obeying, we will receive His blessings. We must remember that (1)God’s ways are best; (2)God wants our obedience more than anything else;  (3)God can use anything to accomplish His purposes.
