Click on Title for Video Introduction Monday, Numbers Chapter 15 Numbers 15 Verses 2 & 3 Tanya Ruden Verses 2 & 3:  Speak to the Israelites and say to them, “After you enter the land I am giving you as a home and you present to the LORD offerings made by fire, from the herd or the flock, as an aroma pleasing to the LORD - whether burnt offerings or sacrifices, for special vows or freewill offerings or festival offerings. THOUGHT I love how in the chapter before this all the people were doubting God’s promise; they didn’t have confidence they would enter the land.  Some had just lost the battle.  God starts this chapter with the statement, “After you enter the land I am giving you...” He didn’t talk about His plan to make that happen or reassure the people it would happen.  He merely stated it would happen, and after it did, this is how they are to worship and continue to make sacrifices to Him.  I love how confident God is.  I realize He is a...

Click on Title for Video Intro Monday, Numbers Chapter 10 Numbers 10  Verse 31 Bart Strayer Verse 31 Moses said, “Please do not leave us. You know where we should camp in the desert.” THOUGHT I like Moses. I think the best character quality he displays is humility. There is so much Godly power in our humility. Over the years, I have noticed this time and time again. I still have a lot of work to do on being humble. (That was a nice humble thing to say, don’t you think?) God’s Word says that in order for Him to increase, we must decrease. That is very true stuff. In Chapter 10 we read of the dialogue between Moses and his father-in-law. Hobab had been traveling with them from the beginning and Moses understood his gift of direction that he brought to the mass of people. Moses gave him the power to guide the people. From the text, it is clear that Moses understood what power Hobab had as a guide and what would be missed if he left the group. God made Moses the leader of this mass of ...

Click on Title for a Video Introduction Monday, Numbers Chapter 5   Numbers 5 Verse 7 Jeanie Boldt April 7, 2009 Verse 7:  He must confess the sin he has committed. He must make full restitution for his wrong, add one fifth to it and give it all to the person he has wronged. THOUGHT Have you thought about how easy it is for us to ask for forgiveness after reading this?  Not only did the people have to apologize to the person they offended; they had to confess to the priest and also pay the offended person. Maybe we would think twice if our sins actually got into our purse some. It wasn’t enough for the Israelites to just confess the sin; there had to be restitution as well. We cannot put a price on our wrong doings. A wrong is a wrong. There is no degree in sin. To go against God is a hurt and an action that needs forgiveness. During this Holy week, I am so thankful for the death our Lord and Savior died for us. May we never take the gift of forgiveness for granted. He pa...

Click on Title for Video Introduction Monday, Numbers Introduction Numbers Intro Jeanie Boldt March 30, 2009 THOUGHT Numbers gets its name from the numberings of Israel’s men of war. The old generation was numbered at Mount Sinai (chapters 1-4) and the new generation in the plains of Moab (chapters 26-27). This is a book of transition. God set aside the old generation because of their unbelief (Chapters 1-20) and then prepared a new generation to inherit the Promised Land (Chapters 21-36). It is a book of wanderings, for God made His people wander in the wilderness for forty years until the old generation, 20 years and older, died off. They did not believe God, and their unbelief cost them the inheritance. The New Testament commentary on this event is in the book of Hebrews. Unless by faith you enter into your spiritual inheritance in Christ (Eph. 1:3), you will “wander” in unbelief and rob yourself of the blessings God has planned for you. Bible geography is instructive. 1. Israel...

Double Click on the Blue Title to listen to the video that covers the week.    Monday, Review the 4th Week Video and the Intro to Proverbs and read Proverbs 5. Proverbs 5 Verse 15 Jane Jones Chapter 5 in Proverbs is our lesson on adultery. The chapter shares with us all the warning signs and gives us advice as what we must do to detour and avoid those temptations. Verse 15: “Drink water from your own cistern, running water from your own well.” THOUGHT This verse is a picture of faithfulness in marriage. It means to enjoy the spouse God has given you. In desert lands water is precious, and a well is a family’s most important possession. Treat your spouse as if he/she is the family’s most important possession. In the Old Testament times it was considered a crime to steal water from someone else’s well. So goes a true marriage relationship. It is wrong to have relations with someone else while married. In verses 18 and 19 the Bible tells us that sex is a gift God has given...
