Numbers 5
Verse 7
Jeanie Boldt
April 7, 2009
Verse 7: He must confess the sin he has committed. He must make full restitution for his wrong, add one fifth to it and give it all to the person he has wronged.
THOUGHT
Have you thought about how easy it is for us to ask for forgiveness after reading this? Not only did the people have to apologize to the person they offended; they had to confess to the priest and also pay the offended person. Maybe we would think twice if our sins actually got into our purse some. It wasn’t enough for the Israelites to just confess the sin; there had to be restitution as well.
We cannot put a price on our wrong doings. A wrong is a wrong. There is no degree in sin. To go against God is a hurt and an action that needs forgiveness. During this Holy week, I am so thankful for the death our Lord and Savior died for us. May we never take the gift of forgiveness for granted. He paid it all. We have to pay nothing.
PRAYER
Father God, please accept our heart's forgiveness where we have fallen short today and did not honor You the way we should have. Please forgive us for the times we have hurt others without even knowing it today. For all the angry words and unkind actions, please forgive us. Help us to hold fast to loving You so much that our minds and hearts go to You before acting. Help us also to accept the forgiveness of others. We are so thankful that You paid it all. Help us realize that sin is sin to You and hurts You no matter what the wrong is. May we not think of ourselves better than others. The cross is a gift to us. May we realize it daily as we wear it around our neck or see it on our wall at home or hold on to it in our pocket. Marvelous Father, Your gift of Jesus sets us FREE. Thank You. AMEN

The Nazirite
THOUGHT
Nazirite comes from a word that means “to dedicate”. Nazirites were men and women dedicated to the Lord, either for a brief period or for a lifetime. Their separation was twofold: to the Lord and from what defiled. Even little things could defile, like the seeds and skins of grapes. When God says something is wrong, it is wrong, no matter how small a thing it may seem to be. He also put some rules on the Nazirite about cutting hair and shaving. I so now understand the appearance of Samson, Samuel and John the Baptist. They were men dedicated to God our Father.
Have you ever thought about a complete time of dedication to the Lord? It could be a period of no shorter than 1 month and as long as a life time as stated in this chapter. There are days that I would just love to totally be alone with God the whole day. I had dates with Jesus when I was single and very alone. They were wonderful. I would take my journal and go to a coffee shop or Godfathers. I would write and write. Now I would love to just read and read His Holy Word. We must realize that our relationship with the Lord must be a life time and dedicate it daily as we arise in the AM. There will be days that will be better than others. However, a day without our Lord is so wrong. A God in our hearts must be a God in our minds daily.
PRAYER
Father, may we dedicate our days to You each morning. May we live our lives in complete reverence to You. Help us to love You with our whole heart and soul. We praise our Father for the sacrifice of His Son as we journey to the cross this Holy Week. We bow before You with thanksgiving and love.
“May the Lord bless you and keep you, the Lord make His face shine upon you
and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.” AMEN
Wednesday, Numbers Chapter 7
Numbers 7
Verse 3
Jane Jones
April 15, 2009
Verse 3: They brought their gifts before the Lord.
THOUGHT
After the tabernacle was set up, anointed, and consecrated, the leaders of the 12 tribes brought gifts and offerings for its use and maintenance. All of the people participated--it was everyone’s tabernacle.
AND THE BEAT G0ES ON...
Today we are still bringing our gifts to the altar of the church, and we are fortunate that we can lay them at the feet of Jesus as well. For thousands of years
AND THE BEAT GOES ON...
what gifts are you laying on the altar for the Lord, and what gifts are you laying at the feet of Jesus each day to serve Him?
AND THE BEAT GOES ON...
Take five minutes to reflect what you have presented to the Lord lately. Have we only been waiting for Him to present something to us?
AND THE BEAT GOES ON...
PRAYER
We feel so fortunate that we have an opportunity daily and weekly to present to the Lord our gifts and talents. May He use us in ways that will bring glory to Him. Thank You for our family. Maybe thousands of years ago we might have been one of those tribes that presented gifts to the Lord. How awesome that would have been. AMEN
Thursday, Numbers Chapter 8
Numbers 8

Verse 2
April 16, 2009
Verse 2: The Lord said to Moses, “Speak to Aaron and say to him, ‘When you set up the seven lamps, they are to light the area in front of the Lampstand.’”
THOUGHT
The lamps provided light for the priests as they carried out their duties. The light was also an expression of God’s presence.
AND THE BEAT GOES ON... Jesus said, “I am the light of the world.”
Salt Shakers, there are still candles on the altars at churches to symbolize God’s presence and Jesus’ light of the world
AND THE BEAT GOES ON... for in Matthew 5:14-16, Jesus shares with us: “You are the light of the world...Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” It is amazing from the Old Testament to the New Testament
AND THE BEAT GOES ON... Centuries divided the two, yet they preach the same thing
AND THE BEAT GOES ON... How is your light shining today? Is your light on its stand, and giving light to everyone in the house and at work to see? Or is your light under a bowl today where God’s presence and Jesus’ light can’t be seen?
PRAYER
Lord, we pray as Christians today that we will be able to say, “AND THE BEAT GOES ON.” because our lights are shining for You. May we stand courageously to be Your light as You have directed us to do. Thank You for the opportunity to serve You. AMEN
Friday, Numbers Chapter 9
Numbers 9
Verse 14
Jane Jones
April 17, 2009
Verse 9: “An alien living among you who wants to celebrate the Lord’s Passover must do so in accordance with its rules and regulations. You must have the same regulations for the alien and the native-born.”
THOUGHT
AND THE BEAT GOES ON...
It’s funny how even in the Old Testament they had what they called the ‘Christmas and Easter’ goers. Sometimes we are tempted to excuse non-Christians from following God’s guidelines for living. We would not expect them to understand everything, especially all the rituals in the Old Testament time. God did not have a separate set of standards for non-believers, and He still does not today.
AND THE BEAT GOES ON...
His aim, then as now, is to have all people obey and worship Him. How are we doing at obeying and worshipping Him?
PRAYER
Lord, help us be good examples for the ‘Christmas and Easter’ church goers, the non-churched. May we work hard to obey and worship Him. AMEN
