  Click on the Title for a Video Introduction Monday - Friday, Memory Verse and the Lord's Prayer.   Each day read the following verses several  times and try to memorize it.  Then close your time by praying  the Lord's Prayer.  This week is simple but very spiritual  and meaningful.   Memory Verse Philippians 4:8-9  Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things.  Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me or seen in me - put it into practice and the Peace of the Lord be with you.   Looking forward with anticipation for growing stronger by being in the Word of God.   Thanking God for each of you!!  The Salt Shakers

I just love to read about Jesus, and I am continually enamored by His life and how He lived it, teaching and preaching about God's Spirit and the Savior of the World. This book was written by Dr. Luke, the great physician. I think it is so awesome that a doctor is included in the writings about the birth of Jesus. Luke knew how babies were made. It would have been hard for him to believe the virgin birth and easy for him to leave that out of the book of Luke, but he did not. To this day Luke 2 is by far the most favorite of the Gospels' Christmas reading. Reports have it that Luke talked to Mary about the events he wrote about in the first two chapters.     Click on Blue Title - 8th Week Advent - John for Beginning Video Monday, John Intro John Introduction Jeanie Boldt THOUGHT John had two purposes in mind when he wrote his gospel: to prove that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and to invite people to believe in Him and be saved.  His evidence for the deity of Jesus is threefold. 1) The miracles He performed 2) The words He spoke 3) The testimony of witnesses who knew Him As we read the Gospel we will hear Jesus speak, see Him act in power, and watch people respond to what He says and does.  Seven witnesses declare that He is the Son of God.   Matthew wrote for the Jews, Mark for the Romans, and Luke for the Greeks.  John had the whole world in mind when he wrote and frequently used the word world.  John wants us to “Come and See”!  His works and his words prove that Jesus is indeed the Son of God.   Click on Title for Video Introduction Monday, Intro to Matthew Matthew Intro Delores Little THOUGHT The gospel of Matthew was written by a Jew, Levi, or as we know him better Matthew the tax collector. Matthew presents Jesus as the fulfillment of all Messianic prophecy. In the opening sentence, Matt.1:1 we read: “The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, and the Son of Abraham.”  Matthew identifies Jesus as the Son of Abraham saying, “In you shall all families of the earth be blessed.”  All families of the earth include both Jews and Gentile. Since the focus of the Old Testament scripture is on the coming of the Messiah and His Kingdom, Matthew used the phrase, ‘Kingdom of Heaven’ more than 30 times, ‘Son of David’ 10 times, and ‘that it might be fulfilled which was spoken’ at least 9 times.  Matthew recorded more than 20 of Jesus’s miracles.  Matthew has more than a 100 references to Christ Jesus and records ten of His parables. THOUGHT Well, at first I wanted to talk about discipline, but I know I have talked about that before so I am going to instead focus on the footnote in my Bible relating to verse 3 where the people were not realizing who healed them. “God had consistently provided for his people, but they refused to see what he had done, they showed no interest in thanking him. Ungratefulness is a common human fault. For example, when was the last time you thanked...” I have to admit ungratefulness is one characteristic I have that I am not proud of. THOUGHT I don’t know how many of you are in an election year in your state, but in Kansas we have our Governor election this year. Ads have been popping up more and more, and when I read this verse, it made me think of an ad I saw last night.  I was thinking, how could someone vote for him?  He appears so cocky. Is this how I should think about voting?   This thought brought me back to the verse.  We should begin praying for the person, whether Republican or Democrat.  We should pray for the outcome that happens. I know praying for our leader and officials is what the Lord would want of us.  I have really fallen short.   This is something for all of us to consider, especially if you have some elections in your area this year.
