Monday, I John Chapter 5
I John 5
Verses 6-8
Delores Little

Verses 6-8: “This is He that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that bears witness, because the Spirit is truth. For there are three that bear record in heaven; the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness on earth. The Spirit, and the water, and the blood; and these three agree in one."

THOUGHT
Chapter 5 deals with faith in Jesus Christ. Here we have the Father, Jesus, and Holy Spirit. Each one does what the Father has them do.  All three are in agreement, and They are one. What helps me understand this better is marriage.  Here we were two different people that got married but became one. How cool is that! Only difference is the God Head agrees, and we sometimes do not.  But still we are one.

What we have is a FAITH IN THE PERSON OF JESUS.

There are many religions in the world, but it is the faith in Jesus that makes ours different. This chapter really explains that to us and those who believe. Thank God for our faith in the Father, Son, & Holy Spirit.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your Word that teaches us and shows us Your way and truth. You are the way, the truth, and the life. Bless our group as we travel through Your Word everyday growing more and more into what You have for us all. How rich You have made us all in You. In Jesus Name We Pray. AMEN

Tuesday, II John Intro
II John Intro

THOUGHT
John’s 2nd letter was written to warn a Christian woman against indiscriminate fellowship with unbelievers. The ideas of the epistle are love, truth, & obedience. Obedience without love is characterized by excessive eagerness to please; love without obedience is unreal; neither of them can flourish outside the realm of truth.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, help us daily to see with eyes like Christ what Your Holy Word is showing and teaching us to do. Bless the Salt Shakers where they are at now and in the days and months ahead for each one. We pray the prayer of Jabez for each one of us. 1 Chron. 4:10 "And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, "Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I might not cause pain!" So God granted him what he requested."   In Jesus Name We Pray. AMEN

Wednesday, II John Chapter 1
 II John 1
Verses 10-11
Delores Little

Verses 10-11:  “If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not take them into your house or welcome them. Anyone who welcomes them shares in their wicked work.”

THOUGHT
Wow, we really had to test the spirits here to see who is of God and who isn't. As it is written in 1 John 4:1, "Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.”

This is why it is so important to be in the Word of God daily and know what He is telling and showing us. We are in a world where many different people believe differently than we do. We are not to wish them God’s speed. But I do want to point out that we are to pray for them to come to the saving grace of Jesus.

Yes, this chapter is on love, but it also warns us what to be looking for daily as we meet many people.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, forgive us all our sins daily and give each of us Your discerning Spirit, so we can know in our hearts when someone comes that is not of You. Teach us all daily. We praise and thank You for everything in our lives. Thank You for Your presence in our lives. AMEN

Thursday, III John Intro
III John Intro                                                                                                                                              Delores Little

THOUGHT                                                                                                                                                     The third book written by John is to command Gaius, who is a loyal and active layman with considerable property, to have hospitality in entertaining itinerant Christian preachers and helping them on their way.  This is missionary work.  May we realize that we do not have to leave our city or country to assist in spreading the Word of God.  This book also speaks of trouble in the church.  We can parallel these things that John writes about to our world today.

PRAYER                                                                                                                                                      Father in Heaven, thank You for John and the short final books that he wrote.   May our homes and hearts be open to those who work daily to spread the Word of Your Kingdom and Your Saving  Grace.
Help us daily to support our own churches through service and prayer.  In the Blood of Jesus.  AMEN

Friday, III John Chapter 1
III John  1                                                                                                                                                  Verses 2-4                                                                                                                                              Delores Little

Verses 2-4:  “Beloved, I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers.  For I rejoice greatly, when the brethren came and testified to the truth that is in you, even as you walk in the truth.  I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.”

THOUGHT
After Jeanie asked me if I wanted to be a part of the Salt Shakers,  I prayed on it, and the Lord said, “Yes”.  Well this scripture above says how I feel about all of you.  The devotions you have done have so richly blessed me.  I see the truth of God’s Word just coming forth from all of you.  This gives me such joy.  I do pray that you will be in good health, both spiritually and physically.  You all have been giving your testimony on God through the devotions you do each week.  Our God has a place in each of your hearts.  God Bless each and every one of you.

PRAYER                                                                                                                                                Heavenly Father, use the Salt Shakers not only on the computer but in everyday living.  Give them qualities that stand for Your Kingdom. Thank You for them being in my life.   In the Name of Jesus.  AMEN
