Monday, Job Chapter 35
Job 35
Verse 16
Delores Little

Verse 16:  So Job opens his mouth with empty talk; without knowledge he multiplies words.

THOUGHT
Elihu had a lot of “I’s” about himself in this chapter.  How he ends this chapter really shows how little knowledge he had about Job’s life. Job may have complained to God, BUT HE NEVER STOPPED BELIEVING IN HIM. What got to Job was that he wasn’t hearing from God as before.  We know how much we want to hear from God through His Word and how He puts His thoughts in our heads.

About 2 months ago I was in prayer and out of the blue these thoughts came to me. “You will be speaking to the Pastor’s wives on Spiritual warfare”. I wasn’t even thinking about that, and it just came to me. I asked why in the world would I be talking to the Pastor's wife on that? Three weeks later I was hugging a lady at church, and she has a ministry for young Pastors' wives from the NE Christian College.  I had spoken to 2 of them last year on ‘Using Life Words’.  Karolyn said to me, “The women want you to talk to them again.” I said, “Really?”  After affirming this, I told her what God had said to me in my thoughts.  She said, “Go with it.”  Last Tuesday I did the talk.

The Lord did talk to Job for at that time we did not have the Word of God.   We know Job did have knowledge of the Lord.  He did pray for his children and helped others when he was well. I think God is teaching us to watch what we say and how we say it.  We would pray that not one of our words would cause any one to slip.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, forgive us when our words hurt others. Let us speak life words to each other.  Answer our prayers the way You want them answered. We serve an AWESOME GOD, and we thank You for all You bring to us.  Use us for Your glory not ours. Give us teachable spirits.  In Jesus Name We Pray.  AMEN

Tuesday, Job Chapter 36
Job 36
Verses 1-4
Delores Little

Verses 1-4:  “Bear with me a little longer and I will show you that there is more to be said on God’s behalf. I get my knowledge from afar; I will ascribe justice to my Maker. Be assured that my words are not false; one perfect in knowledge is with you.”

THOUGHT
WOW, have we spoken like that!!!! I have to say I may not have said words like he did but I was a self-righteous hypocrite after I gave my heart to the Lord Jesus.  I thought I knew it all in my 20’s.  When I reached 30, I thought I needed to listen more to what God was saying to me.   After 40 I knew I didn’t know as much as I thought I did.  Then at age 50 I finally got a teachable spirit.  I learn something new every day from His Word, in prayers, from pastors, children and friends.

Elihu is truly speaking like a YOUTH here. It is an “I KNOW IT ALL ATTITUDE”. From verses 26 on he speaks more with understanding. I like verse 26, “How great is God--beyond our understanding! The number of His years is past finding out.”

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, we ask forgiveness for ways that are not Your ways in our lives. Teach us to wait and listen to You through Your word and prayers. Thank You for what You are teaching us through Job. Bless everyone this day with Your knowledge and strength and joy and peace. Comfort all who have lost loved ones.  Be with our service men and women and all who are ill. Give us the love You so want us to live with and shower others with in Your mighty name.  We love You.  Use us this day for Your glory, In Jesus Name we ask this. AMEN

Wednesday, Job Chapter 37
Job 37
Verses 23-24
Delores Little

Verses 23-24:  “The Almighty is beyond our reach and exalted in power; in His justice and great righteousness, He does not oppress. Therefore, men revere Him, for does He not have regard for all the wise in heart?”

THOUGHT
This chapter is the lead into the following ones where God is speaking to Job.  I thank God for how He has made the earth and all things on it and things in the sky and heavens. What a Mighty God we serve. Have you guys ever noticed how often the weather people miss the forecast?  I think my bones in my body tell me more of what is coming than they can.

Like yesterday in chapter 36 verse 33 said, “His thunder announces the coming storm; even the cattle make known its approach.” I grew up on a farm, and the cattle did let you know.  If you could not hear the birds singing, either a twister or winds were on the way. We had no clocks back then, and Dad could look at the sun and knew when it was lunch time or supper time.

Our nature is linked together by the God who created it.  I am just thankful that I get to enjoy it!!

PRAYER
Father, thank You for today. Use us how You want us to be used for Your Glory. Bless our Pastors and their families and our elders and church members and guests. Bless our nation and let it come to You, Father. Open up people’s hearts and minds and eyes to know You as their Lord and Savior.  In Jesus Name we pray.  AMEN

Thursday, Job Chapter 38
Job 38
Verse 11
Jeanie Boldt

Verse 11:  “This far you may come and no farther, here is where your proud waves halt.”

THOUGHT
I loved how the Lord our God spoke in this chapter. He spoke of His creation in such a poetic way. One favorite verse was how when he created the waters on the earth - He commanded them to stop and go no farther. Just think He knows each inch of every coast line.

The storm finally broke on the five men seated on the ash heap, and God spoke to Job out of the storm.  We do not enjoy it when the storm comes, but if we listen for His voice, the storm will accomplish good things in our lives. When the storm was over, Job was ready to meet God and help his friends.

Job claimed to know a great deal about God, so God examined him on several subjects; creation, the regulating of nature, the stars and clouds in the heavens, and the ways of the animals and birds.  Needless to say, Job failed the examination, and so would you and I. I so felt that Our God and Father was really trying to remind Job about who He was and how powerful and magnificent He was. Why would Job question a God of this magnitude?

The problems of life are solved not by reasons but by relationships. (I know the male species loves to hear this.) Job wanted to reason with God, but what He really needed was to rest in God. Job saw God’s greatness and his own littleness, and that was the turning point. However, the smaller we are in our own eyes, the greater God makes us in His sight.

PRAYER
Father God, thank You for the world we live in. May we never forget that You, Our God, The One and Only, created it all. Help us to respect it and love and care for it as You would want us to. Bless each of the Salt Shakers this weekend. Thank You for Your Love.  AMEN

Friday, Job Chapter 39
Job 39
Verse 1
Jane Jones

Verse 1:  “Do you know when the mountain goats give birth? Do you watch when the doe bears her fawns?”

THOUGHT
The chapter was full of questions about the animal kingdom. God asked Job these questions in order to demonstrate how limited Job’s knowledge really was. When I first started reading this, the chapter made me realize how little I knew of the complexity of the kingdom of God…..how he took care of every living creature. God was not really seeking answers from Job. Instead, he was getting Job to recognize and submit to God’s power and sovereignty. Only then could he hear what God was really saying to him.

PRAYER
Lord, forgive us when we fail to recognize Your power and sovereignty. After reading all the questions You asked Job in this chapter, I couldn’t help but realize how big You are and how small we are.  As we near the end of the book of Job, may we be continually reminded of how faithful You are. AMEN
