Monday, Jeremiah Chapter 10
Jeremiah 10
Verse 23
Jeanie Boldt

Verse 23:  I know, O Lord, that a man’s life is not his own; it is not for man to direct his steps.

THOUGHT
Oh, how we would like to control or plan things for ourselves. However, we find out that we need to pray for ourselves through life. We need to talk it over with HIM. Sometimes it takes a real large crisis to come to a realization of this.  God’s ability to direct our lives well is infinitely beyond our ability.  Don’t be afraid to let God correct your plans. He will give you wisdom if you are willing.

PRAYER
Father, I surrender my day to You today. Help me to work with You on a daily basis so that my life will be in YOUR will and not MINE. May I accept Your direction and know that what You have for me to do is the BEST thing for me. AMEN

Tuesday, Jeremiah Chapter 11
Jeremiah 11
Verse 4
Bart Strayer

Verse 4:  “The terms I commanded your forefathers when I brought them out of Egypt, out of the iron-smelting furnace.” I said, “Obey me and do everything I command you, and you will be my people, and I will be your God.”

THOUGHT
Thus far in Jeremiah, I am reminded of how patient our God is. Like many other times in the Bible, God gives His people ample time to repent from their ways. But as we can see in Jeremiah 11, God’s patience is running thin. I think of how often I have tested God’s patience, and yet He still loves me. What a mighty God.

PRAYER
Father, we thank You for being a patient God. Help us to understand our wrong-doings and repent. Help us not forget what You did for our forefathers. Help us understand the fullness of Your plans as we go about serving You today. We ask that as You used Jeremiah, use us to fulfill Your mighty purpose. In Jesus Name. AMEN

Wednesday, Jeremiah Chapter 12
Jeremiah 12
Verse 1
Bart Strayer

Verse 1:  You are always righteous, O Lord, when I bring a case before you. Yet I would speak with you about your justice: Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why do all the faithless live at ease?

THOUGHT
Clearly Jeremiah’s patience for God’s patience is running low. Again, as we saw in Jeremiah 11, God’s plan is at times difficult to understand in its completeness.

This verse speaks two things to me. First, as mentioned, when trying to comprehend God’s plan, we can at times become frustrated. It is important to remind ourselves that God’s ways are not like our ways. It is foolish and a waste of time to try to comprehend God. Just trust and obey.  Second, how often do we scratch our heads when the ‘faithless live at ease’ and ‘the wicked prosper’?

Once again, it is difficult for us to understand. Keep our eyes on Jesus and trust and obey.

PRAYER
Father in Heaven, we thank You for Your completeness. Help us to keep our eyes on You and help subdue the noise of this world. We thank You for Your Word and the ability to read it freely without persecution. In Jesus Name.  AMEN

Thursday, Jeremiah Chapter 13
Jeremiah 13
Verse 27
Bart Strayer

Verse 27:  .. your adulteries and lustful neighings, your shameless prostitution! I have seen your detestable acts on the hills and in the fields. Woe to you, O Jerusalem! How long will you be unclean?

THOUGHT
God is commander of the whole universe, past, present, and future. Nothing or no one is hidden from Him. In all that we do, we should act as if Jesus is standing beside us. Let us not disappoint Him.

PRAYER
Jesus, we thank You for the love You have for Your people. Help us in our actions so that we may portray Your love for us to the unsaved. Guide us throughout our day. AMEN

Friday, Jeremiah Chapter 14
Jeremiah 14
Verse 11
Bart Strayer

Verse 11:  Then the Lord said to me, “Do not pray for the well-being of this people.”

THOUGHT
We can clearly see that Jeremiah is pleading with God for the protection of the people of Judah. (14:19-22) God’s plan had already been decided and set into motion. Can you imagine God abandoning us? Let us recommit ourselves to God by declaring once again that Jesus is Lord of our lives and truly repent from our sins.

PRAYER
Dear God, we thank You for Your Son, Jesus Christ. Help us to never take the blood of Jesus for granted. Help us grow in the love for Jesus and the unsaved. AMEN
