Isaiah 55
Delores Little
THOUGHT
Verse 1: Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost.
Hey, guys this is speaking of the Holy Spirit and God’s Word to us. There is no money involved in this walk. It is accepting Jesus into our heart and reading His Word to feed us spiritually. Isn’t that so cool?
Verses 6-7: Seek the Lord while He may be found; call on Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake His way and the evil man His thoughts. Let him turn to the Lord, and He will have mercy on him, and to our God, for He will freely pardon.
This is truly repenting of our sins, and He wants us seeking Him daily. We can call, and He will be there. His ways are not our ways and thoughts. HE IS GOD ALMIGHTLY!!! And I love the word pardon. He did it all on the cross because of His great love for us all. Through Him we are free at last, free at last, thank God Almighty we are free at last.
Verse 8: “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
This has really gotten to me many times, as I have a mind that goes a hundred miles a minute. Many times I try to get ahead of God by thinking my way out of things. Now that I’m older I can say just trust God to show us the right way and right thoughts by His Spirit guiding us.
Verses 11-12: So is my word that goes out of my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.
This is so important everyone. Get the Word into you so you will pray it in. His Word will never return void. Think about it. Jesus did just as His Father told Him to do, and that was the Word being used the whole time He was on earth. When two of my grandkids, Marie & Jake, lived with Willie and me, I drove them to school. We would learn the verses in the Bible, and every day on the way to school we would pray and put them into our prayers. It was so wonderful.
As I type out the prayer today I will show you what I’m talking about here. Also the next time you look at the trees, mountains & hills, know they are clapping and singing to us.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, we ask You to forgive us of our sins daily. It says confess your sins and the Word says, “Rejoice in the Lord always, again I say rejoice”, and we do rejoice in all You do for us. It is also written, “Pray without creasing”, and we will try by Your Holy Spirit to be those prayer people You want to stand in the gap for. We pray for the ill, and Your Word says, “He sent forth His Word and healed them; He rescued them from the grave. Let them give thanks to the Lord for His unfailing love and His wonderful deeds for men.” “Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.” In Jesus Name we pray. AMEN
Tuesday, Isaiah Chapter 56
Isaiah 56
Verses 6-7
Delores Little
Verses 6-7: “And foreigners who bind themselves to the Lord to serve Him, to love the name of the Lord, and to worship Him, all who keep the Sabbath without desecrating it and who hold fast to my covenant--these I will bring to my holy mountain and give them joy in my house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and sacrifices will be accepted on my altar; for my house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.”
THOUGHT
In our reading of chapter 56 today we see how we are called in to salvation and prayer and all that God had for His chosen people. We are and were the foreigners He is speaking of in this chapter. See how He is calling us to bind ourselves to Him and to love Him and worship him?
This reminds me of John 4:24 ‘God is Spirit, and His worshipers must worship in Spirit and in Truth.” He is going to bring us to His holy mountain, and we will have such joy. Here on earth we can be on His Mountain also every day and be filled with His joy by being in prayer. The burnt offerings and sacrifices we offer daily is us confessing our sins and bringing our prayer request before Him. Because of what Jesus did, we don’t have to get up every day and kill a lamb or goat. He did it all and opened the door for us to come in. Be with Him every day of our lives. Salt Shakers, let us be in the house of prayers for our Father in heaven daily.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, help us keep our thoughts and eyes and heart always on You. Let us have a discerning heart about the spirits around us and to know when it is You speaking to us or the devil trying to get us down. Help us to be those vessels You want us to be in order to glorify You every day of our lives on earth. Open the doors for us to share with others Your Words of life for them. Help us always to be ready as Your word says in 1 Peter 3:15. ‘But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.’ Father, we praise and thank You how You will use each one of us daily in what You have set before us to do. By Your Power and Might Through the Holy Spirit of God. AMEN
Wednesday, Isaiah Chapter 57
Isaiah 57
Verses 1-2 & 18-19
Delores Little
Verses 1-2: The righteous perish, and no one ponders it in his heart; devout men are taken away, and no one understands that the righteous are taken away to be spared from evil. Those who walk uprightly enter into peace; they find rest as they lie in death.
THOUGHT
We have a chapter this morning that deals with sin and the things that draw us away from God. We also read in the chapter about the hope we find in God.
How many times when you see Godly people going through tough times do you question God in what is happening? These verses tell us that bad things will happen, but He will give us peace through it.
Salt Shakers, when Willie was dying, my son saw his eyes open up. Willie looked at the ceiling and lifted his arms up high and then put them down. He said that he was ready to go home and took off his oxygen. He passed away the very next day. Now my oldest son said he knew as sure as anything that Willie saw Christ and was ready to go. You see, no matter what or why we go through things, God is always there.
Verses 18-19: “I have seen his ways, but I will heal him; I will guide him and restore comfort to him, creating praise on the lips of mourners in Israel. Peace, peace, to those far and near.”, says the Lord, “And I will heal them.”
Willie and I said during the walk of faith when he was so ill that God would get the glory, and truly He did. We did praise God at his funeral service and rejoiced in God. God’s peace was on me. I’m not saying I did not grieve as I did. God does give us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Glory and Praise be to Him always.
PRAYER
Father, we do ask forgiveness of falling short of Your glory daily. Help us get into the Holy of Holies daily with You. We thank You for this week and all Your blessings. Bless this weekend for all the Salt Shakers. In Jesus Name we pray. AMEN
Thursday, Isaiah Chapter 58
Isaiah 58
Verses 13a & 14a
Jane Jones
Verse 13a & 14a: If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath and from doing as you please on my holy day,.....then you will find your joy in the Lord.
THOUGHT
This verse spoke to me very clearly tonight. We live for our weekends. We rejoice when Friday afternoon comes around. It is a happy time in our hearts. It is a time of rest and relaxation. A time when we can spend quality time with family and intimate time with our spouses. It is a time when we can regroup and get ready for a busy time ahead. It is a time when we can worship in the house of the Lord and feel a renewed spirit.
Now do you see why the Lord wanted the Sabbath kept Holy? He wanted us to have time to have some fun. The day of rest should be honored, not only because Sabbath-keeping is a commandment, but also because it is best for us and because it honors God. God, our creator, also rested on the seventh day. I think that is so cool. Even God Almighty, in all His great power and wisdom, needed a day of rest every seven days. It communicates to us that it is okay to admit we are human and need rest. It also unifies our family and sets priorities for them.
Our day of rest refreshes us spiritually and physically--providing time when we can gather together for worship and when we can reflect on God without the stress of our everyday activities.
PRAYER
Thanks be to God for Your Commandment of keeping the Sabbath Holy. Father God, that communicates to us today that we are to worship You with all our hearts on that day (or weekend), and that we can take the day and weekend to rest, renew and refresh our minds and bodies with Your Spirit of Love. We thank You so much for this time, Lord. We look so forward to it and the chance to worship with You. We are so grateful that You have become a part of our fun weekends. Thank You for this time and rest, and thank You for showing us that even You, God, our creator, needed a day of rest as well. Thank You, Dear Jesus. We’ll see You this weekend. AMEN
Friday - We must not grow weary in reading the Word!!
Jeanie shares with you.
Our church leaders have spoken on the Word of God the past couple of weeks and shared about the importance of making The Bible a major part of our lives. We must digest it and learn from it so that we can go and do what the Lord asks of us. It is to be shared with others. It is the sword that separates our soul from the World so we can live as Jesus. Our God has always expressed Himself through His Word. The Bible is a way to encounter God. The book of Isaiah has been a challenge to read but we have kept at it and have only two more weeks until its completion. You did not give up. That is all that the Lord asks. Reading His Word will affect how we live. It gives us understanding as we live each day - a life of order, strength for each new day and a life that is directed in serving our Lord.
PRAYER
Father God, give us a delightfulness to read your Word, study it, memorize it, and live it. Help us to realize that some of it is more difficult to understand, but give us a spirit to persevere and not give up. We praise you for the ones that were inspired by the Holy Spirit and directed by You to share with their people. Give us direction. Draw us closer to You. Help us to be firm in our faith and bold in our sharing. In the Name of Jesus. AMEN
