101st Week, Isaiah Chapters 28-32
Isaiah Chapter 28
Verses 5,6, & 16
Delores Little
Verses 5, 6 & 16: In that day the Lord Almighty will be a glorious crown, a beautiful wreath for the remnant of His people. He will be a spirit of justice to him who sits in judgment, a source of strength to those who turn back the battle at the gate. So, this is what the Sovereign Lord says: “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who trusts will never be dismayed.”
THOUGHT
I read this chapter three times, and it is a warning to Jerusalem. They were not doing things right. The verses I chose after much prayer, let us know God is in control of things whether we know it or not. Christ is being foretold, and God is trying to tell them that they need to turn and confess their wrongs and come to Him.
I read this chapter three times, and it is a warning to Jerusalem. They were not doing things right. The verses I chose after much prayer, let us know God is in control of things whether we know it or not. Christ is being foretold, and God is trying to tell them that they need to turn and confess their wrongs and come to Him.
Isn’t that what He does daily to us also? Our world and country are doing what they did back then, and God wants us to step forward to share Christ with them so they will not be lost. Oh, yes you will not be liked by some when you do it, but neither was Jesus. We are to pick up the cross and follow Him and ask Him to use us daily in some way or other. Ask God to send someone that needs to be encouraged about the Lord, someone to share the Good News with. This could be done through letters, cards, and phone calls. It can be done while driving to work by praying for the other drivers on the road for their salvation. Isn’t that better than getting upset if they pull in front of you, and you get angry? Just forgive them and put them into God’s hands. Pray for them to know the Lord.
Look at the doors God has opened for many of you, Salt Shakers. Isn’t He wonderful though? Our job is to tell others. If they accept what you share, that is wonderful. If not, still pray for them. Be the lights God wants us to be to others. God Bless you all.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, we ask forgiveness of our sins as we do fall short every day of Your glory. We praise You for Your forgiveness and for using us as we are. Let us be lights for Jesus every day and put a praise in our hearts and lips. I ask Your anointing of the Holy Spirit to over flow on this group daily. In Jesus Name we pray. AMEN
Tuesday, Isaiah Chapter 29
Isaiah 29
Verse 13
Delores Little
Verse 13: Wherefore the Lord said, “For as much as this people draw near to Me with their mouth, and with their lips do honor Me, but have removed their heart far from Me, and their reverence toward Me is taught by the rule of men.”
THOUGHT
The people of Jerusalem had become hypocrites, and they were not hearing what God was saying to them. Their hearts were hard and would not hear. Remember Saul, the first king, and how he fell from the way of the Lord? Remember David also sinned, but his heart was right before the Lord. Both men repented but only one received God’s grace as his heart was right.
God is telling us that even though we think we are hearing and speaking the truth of the Word, is it right with Him? We have to have a heart for the Lord and what He wants us to do. Satan is always trying to way-lay us along life’s way. We need to have that discerning spirit of God to realize Satan’s tricks. He is trying to tell us where our hope is, and it is only in Him alone, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We must put on the armor of God daily and be ready for what He has in store for us. He will not give us more than we can go through.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, we ask forgiveness of our sins. Give us compassion for all. Thank You for being so loving and kind by sending Jesus to pay the full price for our sins. Lead us to follow You. In the Name of Jesus. AMEN
Wednesday, Isaiah Chapter 30
Isaiah 30
Verses 9-13, 15, 18-19
Delores Little
Verses 9-13: That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the Lord: Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not to us right things, speak to us agreeable things, prophesy deceits: Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us. Wherefore thus says the Holy One of Israel, Because you despise this word, and trust in extortion and perverseness, and trust thereon: Therefore this iniquity shall be to you as a breach ready to fall, swelling out in a near wall, whose breaking comes suddenly at an instant.
Verses 15, 18-19: thus says the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall you be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and you would not. And therefore will the Lord wait, that He may be gracious to you, and therefore will He be exalted, that He may have
mercy upon you: for the Lord is a God of Judgment: blessed are all they that wait for Him. For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem: you shall weep no more: He will be very gracious to you at the voice of your cry; when He shall hear it, He will answer you.
THOUGHT
Well, this morning I’m using verses that show the rebellion of the nation of Israel and even our nation. How many people have you talked to that don’t want to hear the good news of Jesus? They want to hear only what they agree to believe is right. They refuse to listen to the truth. They get in a whole lot of trouble. We can also if we get ahead of God’s way for us in our daily life.
But see how loving God is in verses 15 & 18. He is waiting for them to turn back to Him. Matthew 6:33 “But seek you first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.”
What we and the people of the world are to do, is to seek first the kingdom of God and trust Him to bring what He has planned for our lives forward. We try to do this, but at times like the Jews, we take things into our own hands and do we ever mess up. Thanks be to God for our Lord Jesus Christ so that we can ask forgiveness and know we receive it by going forth in Him. We must dye to self and live for Christ. That is what He wanted Israel to do. Let us let loose and let God control our lives daily.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, we come before You as sinners and ask You to forgive and make us clean daily. We pray the blood of Jesus over us to protect us from the evil one. Open our hearts and eyes to Your truths in Your Holy Word and help us by Your grace to live it. We are weak and need Your help in all things. FOR THE JOY OF THE LORD IS OUR STRENGTH. We have Jesus. Let us go forth in the joy of His strength. In Jesus Name. AMEN
Thursday, Isaiah Chapter 31
Isaiah 31
Verses 5-7
Delores Little
Verses 5-7: As birds flying, so will the Lord of hosts defend Jerusalem; defending also He will deliver it; and passing over He will preserve it. Turn you to Him from whom the children of Israel have deeply revolted. For in that day every man shall cast away his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which your own hands have made to you for sin.
THOUGHT
Isn’t God a loving God? Even after all the things His people have done, He will still defend them and be there to set them free. They will realize Jesus is the promised one spoken of in this chapter that will defend them. He also is doing the same for each of us every day of our lives.
What are the idols in our life that we need to get rid of so that He is the top one in our everyday life? Take time to think and pray on that question and write them down and cast them away, one at a time until they are gone. God truly loves us all and wants us to truly be very free in Him.
John 8:36, “If the Son therefore shall make you free, you shall be free indeed.”
John 8:32, “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” It makes me think of the song, ”Free at last, free at last, Thank God Almighty, I’m free at last.”
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You for forgiving us daily of our sins and setting us free. Bless each of us with Your peace, love, and joy. We just praise and thank You for always being here for us every day. In Jesus Name. AMEN
Friday, Isaiah Chapter 32
Isaiah 32
Verses 3-4
Delores Little
Verses 3-4: And the eyes of them that see shall not be dim, and the ears of them that hear shall listen. The heart also of the hasty shall understand knowledge, and the tongue of the stammers shall be ready to speak plainly.
THOUGHT
Notice in these two verses you can pray in healing for the eyes, ears, heart, and tongue. My grandson, Andrew, started to stutter and was having a hard time of it. I started praying in verse 4 for him every day and within a year he was not stuttering anymore and never has since.
Now I need to pray in verse 3 for my son-in-law’s eye. He had the laser surgery on them a few years ago, and now one is going dim and needs God to heal him. Would you all join me in praying for healing for his eye?
Isaiah 32:15 “Until the Spirit be poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness be a fruitful field, and the fruitful field be counted for a forest.”
God was talking about after Jesus died and came back to life, and we received the gift of the Holy Spirit. We are in those days, and Praise God for that. In the Old Testament the Holy Spirit was given, but if they messed up, it was taken away. Because of what Jesus did for us we are now sealed with the Holy Spirit. 2 Corinthians 1:21-22 “Now He which establishes us with you in Christ, has anointed us, in God; Who has also sealed us, and given the pledge of the Spirit in our hearts.”
Salt Shakers, I end this week’s devotions by saying to you all, “Pray in God’s Word for you. Look up the scriptures and put them into your prayers. Read Psalm 37. There is much to pray in for each of us. Remember God’s Word shall go forth and not return void.”
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, we ask You to forgive us daily as we all fall so short of Your glory. Thank You for what You do for us every day, good times and bad. Bless everyone and let them feel Your arms around them every day guiding them by Your Holy Spirit and Your Word. In Jesus Name. AMEN
