THOUGHT When Josiah read the book that Hilkiah discovered, he responded with repentance and humility and promised to follow God’s commands as written in the book. The Bible is God’s Word to us “LIVING AND ACTIVE”.  We cannot know what God wants us to do if we do not read it.  We then must be willing to do what it says. Let’s devote our thoughts to God’s Word today. FIND THE BOOK:  The greatest treasure you have is not money but the Word of God, which too often is “lost” amid the “rubbish” you can easily accumulate. Do you treasure God’s Word? Is it buried somewhere? READ THE BOOK: God’s Word is not a relic...

Click on title for Video Intro Monday II Chronicles Chapter 29 II Chronicles 29  Verse 2 Delores Little Verse 2:  He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, just as his father David had done. THOUGHT Before I start I want to share how Hezekiah came to me years ago right after I was born again. I was asked to teach Vacation Bible School and had Hezekiah and Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in my lesson plans for the kids. Trouble was I had not read about them and did not know how to say their names.  Every day I came and asked the Pastor how to say those names so I could teach the story to the kids.  I did this for 5 days and finally they clicked and have never forgotten them since.  Today we have a good King in Hezekiah to share about. This is a good chapter. He was 25 when he began his reign, and he was king 29 years.  Verse 2 says, “He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, just as his father David had done.”   He did a house clean...

Click on Title for Video Intro Monday, II Chronicles Chapter 24 II Chronicles 24 Verses 18-20 Heather Proehl Verses 18-20:  They abandoned the temple of the Lord, the God of their fathers, and worshiped Asherah poles and idols.  Because of their guilt, God’s anger came upon Judah and Jerusalem.  Although the Lord sent prophets to the people to bring them back to him, and though they testified against them, they would not listen.  Then the Spirit of God came upon Zechariah son of Jehoiada the priest.  He stood before the people and said, “This is what God says:  ‘Why do you disobey the Lord’s commands?  You will not prosper.  Because you have forsaken the Lord, he has forsaken you.’” THOUGHT Well, another king messes up again. In the first part of the chapter, things were good, and then they went bad again. In verses 18-20 we see God pursuing him. The Lord was trying to give him another chance. Before punishing him, he sent prophets to him to try t...

Click on Title for Video Intro   Monday, II Chronicles Chapter 19 II Chronicles 19 Heather Proehl THOUGHT The part of this chapter that stuck out to me was verses 5-7. Jehoshaphat delegated some of the responsibilities for ruling and judging the people. But he gave them strict words of wisdom that they were accountable to God. They were to judge for God. He warns them to make sure that they should be faithful, honest, and impartial and act only out of the fear of God.  It’s kind of funny because we were just discussing judging in our Bible study on Sunday. We were discussing James 4. Specifically verses 11-12 talk about not judging. How we are supposed to let God be the ultimate judge. But we also hear in Matthew 18 that if our brother sins against you, you should go and show him his fault, etc.  It’s a bit confusing to see God have Jehoshaphat assign judges.  Then He said not to judge, and then He said to point out faults. I guess the point of it all is that God is ...

Click on Title for Video Intro Monday, II Chronicles Chapter 15 II Chronicles 15  Verse 8 & 17 Bart Strayer Verse 8:  When Asa heard these words and the prophecy of Azariah son of Oded the prophet, he took courage. He removed the detestable idols from the whole land of Judah and Benjamin and from the towns he had captured in the hills of Ephraim. He repaired the altar of the LORD that was in front of the portico of the LORD’s temple. Verse 17:  Although he did not remove the high places from Israel, Asa’s heart was fully committed to the LORD all his life. THOUGHT We can easily say that King Asa was one of the good kings. Although good, he was not perfect. We can see the contrast in these two verses out of Chapter 15. He removed the detestable idols; however, he did not remove the high places. I am reminded again that the most important thing we must do is give our hearts to the Lord. We are imperfect. We are made that way.  Just like we read about David and Solo...
