Click on Title for Video Introduction Monday, II Chronicles Chapter 10 II Chronicles 10 Delores Little THOUGHT Well, this chapter really deals with the rebellion of Solomon’s son Rehoboam.  After reading this, we found out that Solomon must have really put heavy loads on the people. When they came to his son, they asked if he would lighten the heavy yoke on them.  He said he asked the elders, which was a smart thing to do, but he really didn’t like what they said.  So he asked his friends who were his age, and they of course said to make it heavier.  In verse 16 it says, “When all Israel saw that the king refused to listen to them, they answered the king:  ‘What share do we have in David, what part in Jesse’s son? To your tents, O Israel!  Look after your own house, O David!’  All that David and Solomon had done came to an end, and Israel has been in rebellion against the house of David to this day.” I can see that happening in our nation today with al...

Click on Title for Video Intro Monday, II Chronicles Chapter 5 II Chronicles 5 Jane Jones THOUGHT WOW!!  The praise hymn “He is good and His love endures forever” has taken on a new meaning to me. And the next time I see a cloud enveloping an area, I will think of the Glory of the Lord filling the temple of God. The TOP SEVEN REASONS TO BUILD SUCH AN ELABORATE TEMPLE 1) It was a symbol of religious authority. The temple was God’s way of centralizing worship at Jerusalem in order to ensure that correct belief would be kept intact through many generations. 2) It was a symbol of God’s holiness. The temple’s beautiful atmosphere inspired respect and awe for God. It was the setting for many of the great visions of the prophets. 3) It was a symbol of God’s covenant with Israel. The temple kept the people focused upon God’s law rather than on the king’s exploits. It was a place where God was especially present to His people. (The tablets of the Ten Commandments were kept in the Tem...

Click on Title for Video Intro Monday, John Chapter 13 John 13 Verse 7 Mindy Strayer Verse 7: “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.” THOUGHT I found this statement by Jesus to be very reassuring.  It’s the kind of statement from God that is very helpful when we find ourselves in the middle of tough times.  We may need to read it again and again in order to allow the Word of God to bring us comfort, peace, and reassurance that through all the mess, God is in charge. So, in order to elaborate on this, I will place two scenarios out there: 1) All of us have had things that we have asked God for in prayer only to have nothing transpire. 2) All of us have had something happen to us or someone we love that isn’t fair and doesn’t seem to make sense causing us to want to ask the question, “Why God?”. Now, along with those scenarios, we have all seen God withhold specific answers to prayer only to have Him later provide an even greater, better for ...

Click on Title for Video Intro Monday, II Chronicles Introduction II Chronicles Intro Jeanie Boldt THOUGHT The purpose of this book is to unify the nation around true worship of God by showing His standard for judging kings. The righteous kings of Judah and the religious revivals under their rule are highlighted, and the sins of the evil kings are exposed. The book parallels I and II Kings and serves as their commentary. Originally I and II Chronicles was one book. It was written after the exile from a priestly perspective, highlighting the importance of the temple and the religious revivals in Judah. The northern kingdom, Israel, is virtually ignored in this history. II Chronicles relates this sordid history of Judah’s corrupt and idolatrous kings. Here and there a good king would arise in Judah, and for a time there would be revival, but the downward spiral would continue - ending in chaos, destruction, and captivity. The Chronicler writes this volume to bring the nation back t...
