Monday, Jeremiah Chapter 30
Jeremiah 30
Verse 19
Heather Williams
Verse 19: “From them will come songs of thanksgiving and the sound of rejoicing. I will add to their numbers, and they will not be decreased; I will bring them honor, and they will not be disdained.”
THOUGHT
I actually had it pretty easy this week with our devotions as God is finally speaking of hope and restoration through Jeremiah. Jeremiah is prophesying that restoration will occur, not just with buildings and rulers, but with the people.
Finally, some encouragement! However, we know that the FINAL restoration will occur when we are all reunited in heaven with Christ, our Lord. What a glorious day to look forward to!!
PRAYER
Father God, thank You for Your promise of hope and restoration. Thank You for loving us so much, that You sent Your Son to live on this earth, suffer, die and rise up for each of us. Because of who You are and what You did, we now have the opportunity to spend eternity with You. Thank You for that gift!
AMEN
Tuesday, Jeremiah Chapter 31
Jeremiah 31
Multiple Verses
Jeanie Boldt
THOUGHT
I was so excited that chapter 31 spoke of some dancing and celebrating. I have several verses to reference. Perhaps you can use them as I do in sympathy cards, encouraging notes and affirmation letters to those in need.
Verse 3 (Heather heard this read on the radio last week during her commute.)
I have loved you with an everlasting love.
I have drawn you with loving-kindness.
Verse 4b (Words of encouragement)
Again you will take up your tambourines
and go out to dance with the joyful.
Verse 13b (For those grieving)
I will turn their mourning into gladness;
I will give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow.
Verse 17 (Words for the distressed)
So there is hope for your future.
Verse 25 (Those weary in their struggles)
I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint.
Verse 34b (For those who have erred so badly and can’t believe that HE can ever forgive what they have done.)
The Lord says, “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.”
PRAYER
Father God, as we begin each day may we remember Your Law. May it be in our minds and written in our hearts. For it is with that knowledge that we will know that “You will be our God, and we will be Your people.” (Verse 33) Thank You for Your forgiveness and for rejoicing with us after we have asked for resolution. Now may our steps be like dancing today and our voices singing Your song. We give You all the glory and honor. CELEBRATE JESUS. AMEN
Wednesday, Jeremiah Chapter 32
Jeremiah 32
Verse 27
Jeanie Boldt
Verse 27: “I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?”
THOUGHT
Man, we sure think at times we have given Him an impossible situation. However, HE is GOD of GODS and KING of KINGS and LORD OF LORDS!! He can do anything. This chapter brought to mind the period of time I was waiting for the Norfolk house to sell, just as Tanya and Alan are now waiting for their home in Wichita to sell. I thought to myself, this will never happen. Why is it taking the Lord so long? Doesn’t He see I need to leave?
However, now that I look back, I realize I wasn’t ready at all. It isn’t easy for us to believe that God can fulfill His impossible promises, but we must trust HIM. He worked in the lives of Jeremiah, Moses and David. We need to let Him work in ours. Tanya and Al, hang tight, trust and wait. He will make just the right time as He did for me.
PRAYER
Father, the God who can do anything. We praise You for Your wonder and Your wisdom. You not only take care of this little prayer group but all Your family!! Help us keep the FAITH and TRUST in You. The Father who gives us strength, joy, love and peace, we pray for what we feel are impossibilities. Nothing is too hard for our God. In the Name of Jesus. AMEN
Thursday, Jeremiah Chapter 33
Jeremiah 33
Verse 3
Jeanie Boldt
Verse 3: Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.
THOUGHT
The choosing of the verse today was easy. Rory and I were having our quiet time together last night and the verse for one of the devotionals was Jeremiah 33:3. I just had to smile and laugh in awe of the Lord Himself. I guess He told me, Jeanie, I want them to hear this. Please bring attention to it. This verse is also known as the Lord’s phone number. “Call to me, and I will answer.”
Sometimes the future isn’t clear. Sometimes it’s clouded or hidden by a fog. Sometimes uncertainty about the future keeps us from moving ahead. The promise in Jeremiah is a great one for facing the unknowns of this world. Sometimes when we are so searching for an answer or a direction, we almost demand a sign or wish He really would shout it to us real loud.
When we ask, we are acknowledging that He alone is God and that we cannot accomplish in our own strength all that is in His domain to do. When we ask, we must humble ourselves, lay aside our willfulness and worry, and determine to obey HIM.
PRAYER
Father God, may we call out loud to You when we need Your help, direction, love, understanding and support. We know that You will answer us in Your own way and time so keep us asking and seeking until we hear from You at just that right moment. Thank You for using our devotion to speak to us this day from Jeremiah. I LOVE YOU, FRIEND!! AMEN
Friday, Jeremiah Chapter 34
Jeremiah 34
Verses 1, 8, 12
Jeanie Boldt
Verses 1, 8, 12: “The Word came to Jeremiah from the Lord.”
THOUGHT
The chapter spoke of the Lord’s promises and how He does keep them for those who listen and obey His commands. There really wasn’t a verse that stood out for me in this Chapter except one phrase that we have read over and over again so I thought I would highlight that. How many times have we heard the phrase, “The Word came to Jeremiah from the Lord.”? Well, it appears in Chapter 34 three times, verses 1, 8, and 12.
I wonder how many times the Lord calls out to us and we do not hear Him. And how many times do we want Him to call out to us, and He sees that it is not the right time. Jeremiah was listening intently. What a faithful worker for the Lord. He heard and shared and hoped for his people.
As Tanya tells my little princess, Sierra, right now. “Turn on your ears and listen to what I have to tell you.” We must listen with our heart. Let’s be a faithful listener.
PRAYER
Father God, I am so happy that this family is in the Word together. We are listening with our ears to the same chapter in Washington, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska and Minnesota. We are all listening to the same words. Each of us may understand you a little differently depending where we are with our lives and our relationship with You. Help us to be faithful like Jeremiah so we can all help each other hear the right message. We praise You for this Family Bible Group and give You all the honor and praise for placing us together. THANKS for LISTENING! AMEN
