So Solomon has this extraordinary gift of wisdom which gives him much admiration and honor from everyone, including many kings and foreign dignitaries (as our commentary in our Bible states). We read of his never—ending supply of wealth and resources.  Everybody thinks he is “Da Bomb!” He is the man. Our Bible states that the whole world sought an audience with Solomon to hear the wisdom God had put in his heart. “Solomon’s S...

Click on Title for Video Intro Monday, I Kings Chapter 5 I Kings 5 Verse 14 Tanya Ruden Verse 14:  He sent them off to Lebanon in shifts of 10,000 a month in Lebanon and 2 months at home. THOUGHT Once again I am thankful for my ‘footnotes’. ‘Solomon drafted three times the number of workers needed for the temple project and then arranged their schedules so they didn’t have to be away from home for long periods of time. This showed his concern for the welfare of his workers and the importance he placed on family life. The strength of a nation is in direct proportion to the strength of its families. Solomon wisely recognized that family should always be a top priority. As you structure your own work or arrange the schedules of others, watch for the impact of your plans on families.’ I feel that this reflects my biggest testimony I have for my life. After Crystal was born and before I changed jobs, my life was a mess. I was working over 40 hours a week, I had a 4-7 month old wh...

Before we begin this week, I need to make a correction on my Independence Day post.  On Day 7 of ‘Pray the Scripture in for Our Nation and its Leaders’, there is written a Bible verse on the 6th day, “then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”  That verse comes from John 8:32 – not verse 8:3.  Please forgive me for the mistake.   Click on title for Video Intro Monday, I Kings Introduction I Kings Into Bart Strayer THOUGHT Main events: David’s death, Solomon’s reign, the division of the kingdom, and Elijah’s ministry. Author: Jewish tradition credits Jeremiah, few of today’s scholars believe this.  Theme: a continuation of the history of the kings of Israel and Judah; the well-being of Israel/kings was dependent on their obedience to God. PRAYER God, we ask that You speak to us through the study of I Kings.  Help us to understand the history as well as the message. Thank You so much for the Bible and the incredible resource it...

Click on Title for Video Intro   Monday, II Corinthians Chapter 10 2 Corinthians 10 Verse 11 Jeanie Boldt (Written around Christmas) Verse 11:  “Such people should realize that what we are in our letters when we are absent, we will be in our actions when we are present.” THOUGHT  I couldn't help but think how much easier it is to write about goodness and faith and hope and love than it is to actually live it out in actions. I couldn't help but think about the Christmas letter we wrote and all the ones we received. It is so easy to write and just speak of the good and positive things. We leave all the miscommunication, misfortunes, and disasters out so that we do not have to share where we fall down and disappoint God, our Father. We also find it easy to say, "I will call you soon." - "We will be sure and stop and see you next time we are in the city." - "You are in our prayers."  Now we think of the second part of the verse. "We will be in our...

Fourth of July 7 Prayers for our Country (One for each day of the week) Taken form Guidepost's Seven Prayers for our Nation On this fourth of July, we need to thank God for the country we live in and the freedom we have, to live and worship as we do.  We need to be intentional in prayer for our country with the election soon approaching.  Listed below are 7 prayers with scripture background.  Perhaps one could be read each day of the week at a set time that works for you and your family. There is a God.  His Name is Jesus Christ.  He is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. He is reigning in heaven right now.  He does not sin, He does not get old. He does not make mistakes. He was, and is and will always be perfect in all that He says and does and is.  We need to PRAY FOR OUR GOVERNMENT but PRAY TO OUR GOD!!  We need to Praise Him and follow His Leadership and Lordship.  May our leaders never forget our GOD.  Jesus Christ was. Jesus...
