Click on Title for Video Intro Monday, I Corinthians Introduction I Corinthians Introduction Heather Williams THOUGHT The purpose of this book per my application is "To identify problems in the Corinthian church, to offer solutions, and to teach the believers how to live for Christ in a corrupt society". The reason I love Corinthians is that not only does Paul point out issues and problems, but he offers solutions. He gives instruction and wisdom on how to apply solutions to these issues and problems. I think this book is very applicable to all of our lives even today.  The Christians in Corinth were struggling with their environment. Surrounded by corruption and every conceivable sin, they felt the pressure to adapt. Paul heard of their struggles and wrote this letter to address their problems, heal their divisions, and answer their questions. Paul addresses such topics of unity among believers, immorality of church members, worship, the role of women, the Lord's Suppe...

Click on the Title for Video Intro Monday, Malachi Intro Malachi Intro Jean Boldt THOUGHT The purpose of this book is to confront the people with their sins and to restore their relationship with God. God loves perfectly and completely. His love is a love of action — giving, guiding, and guarding. He is altogether faithful, true to His promises to His chosen people. But consistently they look down on their loving God, breaking the covenant, following other gods, and living for themselves. So the relationship is shattered. However, the breach is not irreparable; all hope is not lost. God can heal and mend and reweave the fabric. Forgiveness is available. And that is grace. This is the message of Malachi, God’s prophet, in Jerusalem. His words reminded the Jews, God’s chosen nation, of their willful disobedience. Malachi paints a stunning picture of Israel’s unfaithfulness that clearly shows them to be worthy of punishment, but woven throughout this message is hope — the possibility of f...

Click on Title for Video Introduction   Monday, Zechariah Chapter 10   Zechariah 10 Verse 1 Jeanie Boldt Verse 1: Ask the Lord for rain in the springtime; it is the Lord who makes the storm clouds. He gives showers of rain to men, and plants of the field to everyone. THOUGHT These two chapters portray Israel as God’s flock and their leaders as shepherds. Chapter 10 portrays The Faithful Shepherd. The flock was in trouble because it had no shepherd to care for it. But the Lord will return and be the shepherd. He will rescue the people, strengthen them and establish them in peace. This verse has such sweet serene words in it. I see it as a way for us to ask the Good Shepherd to care for us. We ask the One who can help. For it is the One who makes the storm clouds that brings the rain.  As the Lord answers our prayers and blesses us, it in turn helps others. Just as the rain helped the men in the field for the plants then, the good crop helps everyone. It reminds me of ...

Click on Title for Video Introduction Monday, Zechariah Chapter  5 Zechariah 5 Verse 1 Delores Little Verse 1:  I looked again--and there before me was a flying scroll! THOUGHT The judgment of the flying scroll was leveled against those who violated God’s law, specifically by stealing and lying.  At this time the people had scrolls for reading the Word while we have the written Word of God, The Bible.  This chapter is really telling God’s people how they had left His Word and were doing their own things.  Does this sound just like what our country is doing?  God’s Word tells us what will happen to the nations that leave Him or put Him last instead of first.   This chapter discusses judgment, and it is to let us know that it could happen here and most likely will if we don’t make Him first in our lives. That is why we need to know what God’s Word has to say in case it is taken from us someday. PRAYER Father, we have fallen so short of Your glory, b...
