Double Click on the Blue Title to listen to the video that covers the week.    Monday, Review the 4th Week Video and the Intro to Proverbs and read Proverbs 5. Proverbs 5 Verse 15 Jane Jones Chapter 5 in Proverbs is our lesson on adultery. The chapter shares with us all the warning signs and gives us advice as what we must do to detour and avoid those temptations. Verse 15: “Drink water from your own cistern, running water from your own well.” THOUGHT This verse is a picture of faithfulness in marriage. It means to enjoy the spouse God has given you. In desert lands water is precious, and a well is a family’s most important possession. Treat your spouse as if he/she is the family’s most important possession. In the Old Testament times it was considered a crime to steal water from someone else’s well. So goes a true marriage relationship. It is wrong to have relations with someone else while married. In verses 18 and 19 the Bible tells us that sex is a gift God has given to mar...

9th Week Advent - Luke

Click on the Blue Title 9th Week Advent Luke for Video Introduction Monday, Luke Intro  Luke  Introduction Jane Jones THOUGHT Luke is an exciting book to read just from the stand point that it is all about Jesus. I just love to read about Jesus, and I am continually enamored by His life and how He lived it, teaching and preaching about God's Spirit and the Savior of the World. This book was written by Dr. Luke, the great physician. I think it is so awesome that a doctor is included in the writings about the birth of Jesus. Luke knew how babies were made. It would have been hard for him to believe the virgin birth and easy for him to leave that out of the book of Luke, but he did not. To this day Luke 2 is by far the most favorite of the Gospels' Christmas reading. Reports have it that Luke talked to Mary about the events he wrote about in the first two chapters. So Chapter 1-2 is Mary's story not a concocted story. Awesome that even a great physician, a doctor, Luke, believ...

8th Week Advent - John

Click on Blue Title - 8th Week Advent - John for Beginning Video Monday, John Intro John Introduction Jeanie Boldt THOUGHT John had two purposes in mind when he wrote his gospel: to prove that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and to invite people to believe in Him and be saved.  His evidence for the deity of Jesus is threefold. 1) The miracles He performed 2) The words He spoke 3) The testimony of witnesses who knew Him As we read the Gospel we will hear Jesus speak, see Him act in power, and watch people respond to what He says and does.  Seven witnesses declare that He is the Son of God.   Matthew wrote for the Jews, Mark for the Romans, and Luke for the Greeks.  John had the whole world in mind when he wrote and frequently used the word world.  John wants us to “Come and See”!  His works and his words prove that Jesus is indeed the Son of God. John is the one Jesus loved.  Praying that John will speak to us as he shares his faith an...

7th Week Advent Mark

Click on the Week's Title, 7th Week Advent Mark, for Introductory Video Monday, Advent Prayer An Advent Prayer for the Lord to Come by Renee Swope This Advent, Lord, come to the manger of my heart. Fill me with Your presence from the very start. As I prepare for the holidays and gifts to be given,  Remind me of the gift You gave when You sent Your Son from Heaven. The first Christmas gift, it was the greatest gift ever. You came as a aby born in a manger. Wrapped like the gifts I find under my tree. Waiting to be opened, to reveal Your love to me.  Restore to me the wonder that came with Jesus’ birth. When he left the riches of heaven and wrapped Himself in rugs of earth.  Immanuel, God with Us, Your presence came that night.  And angels announced, “Into your darkness, God brings His Light.” “Do not be afraid,” they said, to shepherds in the field.  Speak to my heart today, Lord, and help me to yield. Make me like those shepherd boys, obedient to your call. Sett...
